The federal McKinney-Vento (MV) Education of Homeless Children and Youth program requires school districts to ensure equal access to public schools by homeless students. Among the provisions is the right of homeless parents and unaccompanied homeless youths to request transportation to school, even when no longer living within the school district. This request must to made to the school principal to be forwarded to the superintendent. Attached please find two RSU #71 policies pertaining to enrollment and education of homeless youth and the dispute resolution information. Please contact me if you have further questions.
