EAST BELFAST — For a number of years, the fifth-grade class at East Belfast School has held a major fundraiser and food drive to support the Greater Bay Area Ministerium’s Food Cupboard.

This year was no exception, as fifth-grade teacher Erin Ireland led her enthusiastic students in raising funds through a school holiday bazaar and the collection of food for those in need.

With the support of all of the students and staff of East Belfast School, students this year raised $701 and collected 138 pounds of food for the GBAM Food Cupboard. The students made the donation Dec. 21 to GBAM Food Cupboard Chairman Cindy Frost.

The GBAM Food Cupboard provides food to those in need on the second and fourth Friday mornings of each month, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at 23 Mill Lane, in the back of the Belfast United Methodist Church. The Food Cupboard’s contact phone number is 218-1213
